Journal shows '[...]' after Battle for Whiterun
What happens
After the battle, '[...]' may replace the next quest's name in your journal, and the marker disappears.
PS5-safe fix
During Balgruuf's speech, stand among the soldiers he's addressing, not next to him on the ramp, so you're inside the trigger area. UESP also suggests spending time away from the Whiterun area before returning so the area respawns with the quest flags set.
Always make a hard save before trying a fix.
