Vilkas isn't waiting outside Jorrvaskr
What happens
Vilkas may not appear in front of Jorrvaskr to give the 'Follow Vilkas' objective. In the worse version, the marker points to Skjor and the Companions questline stops.
PS5-safe fix
Go into Jorrvaskr and talk to Vilkas; he gives the objective. For the worse version, try entering Whiterun through the main gate, which may trigger the Vilkas event.
