Blood on the Ice never starts after Mourning Never Comes
What happens
The Windhelm murder scene never appears. Killing Nilsine Shatter-Shield for the Dark Brotherhood quest Mourning Never Comes causes her mother Tova to commit suicide, and the quest needs Tova alive to start. The stable hand Arivanya is also required but not essential.
PS5-safe fix
No in-game fix once Tova is dead. Reload a save from before Nilsine was killed. On PC this is fixed by the Unofficial Patch or console commands, which PS5 players can't use.
Prevention
If you want this quest, don't take the optional Nilsine kill in Mourning Never Comes, and keep Arivanya (Windhelm Stables) alive.
Only known full fix needs a mod. Check which PS5 mods are safe on Is It Bricked?.
Always make a hard save before trying a fix.
